Bamboo is ecologically friendly, sustainable, and grown without pesiticides. It might be known to many as being the food for pandas, yet it has many other uses. Other than scaffolding, tools, flooring, furniture, paper, utensils, bamboo is now also used for clothing, thanks to the technology of turning the bamboo plant into fiber, called Viscose from Bamboo. The cross section of bamboo has micro gaps and micro holes, which makes bamboo cloth able to absorb moisture and wick it away from the body. Natural, hypoallergenic, odor-resistant, and indugingly silky soft, Viscose from Bamboo is a lovely compliment to other natural fiber. BambooDreams sheets, bedding, and woven blankets are made from 100% Viscose from Bamboo. BambooDreams knit fabric is 95% Viscose from Bamboo with 5% Spandex.
About SilkCharmeuse Silk: Known as the silk of emperors, charmeuse silk is shiny and very smooth. It has an elegant luster and beautiful drape that is not to be confused with polyester satin. Dupioni Silk: Dupioni is a lustrous silk often woven from two different colors of threads, so that it shimmers or changes color in the light and it is reversible. Usually brightly colored, it has a moderately crisp drape, fairly reflective luster, and a nubby texture. It is crisp to the touch and doesn't crease or wrinkle or crease badly. Georgette Silk: Silk Georgette has a grainy texture and a sheer feel and it is durable. It drapes very fluidly, and falls into soft ripples. Great for loose, full blouses, evening wear, dresses and skirts. Georgette doesn't show pin marks, and it won't hold a crease. Habotai Silk: "Soft as down", as the word habotai (Japanese, pronounced hab o tie) suggests, Habotai Silk is lightweight, lustrous, and very soft. It is natural in color and has a soft graceful drape. Jacquard Silk: Jacquard is an intricate weaving method used to create complex designs in the fabric. It provides a beautiful combination of shiny and matte tone on tone finishes. Noil Silk: Sometimes called raw silk, Noil Silk is untreated and has a flannel-like texture. Momme Weight: Momme (pronounced mummy) refers to silk weight. The higher the momme, the heavier the weight. The width of a single silk filament is so fine that there are thousands of threads per square inch. Often five to eight filaments are twisted together to make silk threads thicker and stronger.
General Care for Natural Fibers Silk and other natural fibers will last a long time if given the proper care. Always use a mild soap when washing. Do not use any harsh chemicals, bleach, fabric softener, or dryer sheets as they damage the delicate natural fibers. Woolite and similar soaps are not recommended for silk and natural fiber products as they contain bleach, which is harmful to silk. We suggest LeBlanc Silk and Lingerie Wash or a similar silk or natural fiber-friendly (ph neutral) soap. Remember that brighter colors may run during the first washings, so wash separately. Some products need to be dry cleaned as noted on the care label. If the care label says machine wash, wash in cool water using a gentle cycle. Air or machine dry on low. Remove promptly from the dryer. The heat from the dryer is hard on silk and other natural fibers, so please do not over dry. Caring for Dark Colored Silk SheetsThe deep color silk sheets (black, red, plum, passion, ginger & chocolate) need to be washed separately. To make the deep colors colorfast we suggest you do the following before using:
Prewash
the sheets (cold water, gentle cycle) using a mild soap with no additives (e.g. Le Blanc Silk Wash) and
½ cup of white vinegar.
Caring for Silk Filled ComfortersSilk is a luxurious fiber, both delicate and strong. Your comforter will give you years of warm and nurturing comfort if given the proper care. Silk filled products cannot be machine-washed. The Chinese, who have been using silk-filled comforters for centuries, recommend that instead of dry cleaning, comforters and pillows should be hung outside in the fresh air away from direct sunlight a few times during the year. If needed, spot clean. With purchases we enclosed a sample of “Silk & Clean” a dry cleaning pad that is handy for removal of small stains. If full cleaning is required, the comforter needs to be professionally dry-cleaned. Please make sure your cleaner understands the comforter is 100% silk inside and out. To insure the life of the comforter we suggest covering it with a washable silk duvet cover. Comforter covers and Silk & Clean are available on this website. We cannot accept returns for improperly cared for comforters.
